New Years Eve

Can someone please give suggestions of things to do on NYE with two teenage boys? Also, wondering what to do NY day. Will most places be closed. Would like to take a tour that day, but figure most companies will be closed. thanks

I don't think NYE will be too much different from other days in terms of closures. So plan to do the regular stuff that people like: Chinatown, Alcatraz, etc.

The one special event each year is NYE fireworks at the waterfront. So you should plan for that.

If you want a NYE celebration that allows teenagers, that will be a little hard, as most NYE events are adults-only due to the alcohol controls. Our fireworks, of course, are all ages, at midnight, usually from just south of the Ferry Building.

NY Day is a holiday, but many tourist things are open... Chinatown, North Beach, the Wharf, etc. You should be able to find some tours operating that day (including bike rentals), the cable cars run, you can see the Victorian homes, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Golden Gate Park, etc.
