Hoping to avoid renting a car. How could we get from SF to Santa Clara?
What the doc said. Where are you going to visit in Santa Clara?
going to visit friends Donner Crescent. Sounds like you might have some suggestions for the area?
Is Donner Crescent a street or a complex? What advice are you seeking? Will you be staying in SF proper or coming down from the airport? And if your friends live here, why are you asking strangers? ?
Very valid question chinita 415! I am asking strangers because I always like to have some thoughts/info of my own before talking with our friends. Also, trip advisor forums are so much of my trip planning routine---I seem to get creative and helpful comments.
Ok then. Give us more info and let us know what info you need.
Is Donner Crescent the name of your friend?
I am assuming it is street names in Santa Clara.
This area is probably close to Stevens Creek and Saratoga.
The best Cal Train station to get off of at would be the one by Santa Clara University.
Easiest would be for your friends to pick you up from there or to take a bus once you get to Santa Clara Cal Train station.
VTA does service the area from bus - but let us know if you need specifics there....
or try using the trip finder if you want to take the bus.
It will take about 90 minutes or so to do the trip from San Francisco once the train departs and the time you arrive at your friends house if you take a cab.Edited: 07 February 2014, 01:29
While "Donner" is a rather popular name in California the only "Donner Crescent" I found via Google Maps was a small street in a smaller town near Nottingham in the UK. (The use of "Crescent" is not frequently used in conjunction with street names in the US.)
Hopefully the OP will enlighten us.
Thanks for your concise answer.
