Parking near Parc 55, Union Square.

Hi.

Parking at our hotel Parc 55 is expensive I've been told. Can you recommend a safe and cheap parking nearby. We'll be in SF from 3th till 6th of July.

Thank you in advance :-)

Try the Ellis O'Farrell Garage, 123 O'Farrell St, phone (415) 986-4800. Their web site is eofgarage.com. I remember seeing a garage near there advertising $20 daily rate. Unfortunately I don't remember which one it was.

You don't really need a car while you are in SF. The best option maybe not to have a car.

unless the deal you are getting on rental cars is weekly or monthly, you can get two one way rentals and save parking fees .

Do you know that the 4th of July is our biggest national holiday? People will flock into the City to watch the fireworks, etc. Parking will be very scarce and driving will be next to impossible.

Also, be sure and check the rate structure for any non-hotel garage. Depending on your specifics it could actually end up being more expensive than the hotel's parking.

This is because the hotel rate is a true daily rate & will have in/out privileges. Other garages will charge you every time you leave and depending on how often you use the car, how long you're parked, their rate structure etc, you could actually pay more in 24 hours than the hotel rate. Now if you're just going to park it the whole trip, less of an issue, but still know the rate structure. I've seen at least one garage (not in SF) where the daily rate only applied to the FIRST 24 hours, after that it switched to the more expensive hourly rate (so you basically had to leave once a day to "reset").

It's just just something you need to be aware of,

It is not true that " parking will be scarce and driving will be next to impossible" on the 4th. Don't plan on using the car while here, check into some of the lots south of Market Street that charge $12 or so per day ,and leave it there until you are ready to depart the City.
