San Francisco three day trip

Trying to plan out a family trip (with an 8 year old) to San Fran, I have done a lot of research (been many years ago), and read many forums already. How does this itinerary sound so far?

First day arrival at 11:30

Take BART to Union Square hotel

Head to Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 to "kick" off trip

Dinner in Little Italy- ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Next day- first FULL day, this is where I need the help on timing…

Head to Ferry Marketplace for farmers Market (Thursday), grab breakfast and snacks

Get on the GGF to Saulsalito (early before fog comes back in)

Walk around Saulsalito, eat lunch- ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Take ferry back to Ferry Marketplace

Dinner in Union Square- ANY SUGGESTIONS?

6:30 Magic Show- Marrakech

Will we have enough time to do ferry, Saulsalito, dinner… before 6:30 show?

Next FULL day- Friday

Want to "do" GG Park- not sure what to do and how long we need?

Ghardelli Square?

Cable Car Museum?

China Town?

North Beach- Little Italy?

What are we missing in our trip? We have 4th of July fireworks that evening? Then we have the next day until mid afternoon.

Please give any other suggestions.

Thanks

Ummm....I will let the SF experts come in to help you, but just FYI, there is no "Little Italy" in San Francisco. I think you mean North Beach. The other term is not used, just so you won't confuse the locals. <grin>

>>Want to "do" GG Park- not sure what to do and how long we need?<<

You could easily spend the whole day in the park if you visited the California Academy of Sciences, rented paddleboats to go around Stow Lake, visited the Japanese Tea Garden, saw some of the other sights. You can, of course, spend less time if you focus your sightseeing on a few sights that appeal to you the most.

Be prepared to walk home from the fireworks, by the way.

On your last day, take the cable car to Cable Car Museum. Walk down to China Town. Walk from there to North Beach for lunch. Walk to Ghardelli Square, then take the cable car back to your hotel to leave.

With an 8 year old, the Exploratorium is missing.

You can easily fit Ghiradelli Square on your first day.

have you read the exhaustive list on the right side of what to do with kids in SF. Not sure any of the forum posts call North beach little italy.

The whole itinerary looks like an adult one. What does your 8 year old like ? What are you planning to do with the kid

with thousands of restaurants in SF and plenty in Sausalito, it does help if you specify a cuisine -- yes they are family friendly so please do worry -- have you look at the top questions ? Plenty of restaurants mentioned there.

Did you check the first post on the SF forum. Plenty of trip reports for you to select and read a few
