2 stay in shopping district in SF, need Hotel recommendation

Our plane is arriving at SFO at Midnight. We'd like to start our short week of vacation by visiting the shopping district in SF. Where would be a good location to look for a Hotel, so we can get up in the morning, walk outdoors and start window shopping?

You will want to be in the Union Square area. Tell us the type of hotel you are looking for....boutique, full service, large, small, etc. and your budget and we will help you.

The Union Square area (and nearby Westfield Center) probably have every brand named store known to man or beast. But if you're looking for unique boutiques that you won't find in Any Mall, USA check out the 'hoods.

Pacific Heights, Cow Hollow, Marina, Presidio Heights, Valencia Street and there are many more. http://www.sfgate.com/neighborhoods/

If you're looking for something different then pick a neighborhood and start exploring.

I agree that exploring the neighborhoods will give you more variety and some choices you won't find anywhere else. But I still suggest that you get a hotel in the Union Square area for public transportation to any neighborhood you want to explore.

I agree that Union Square is the ideal location. Also, if one were to head down, say Powell to Market, there is the Westfield Center with several more stores, such as Nordstroms. Nice, easy walk.

Enjoy,

We stayed at The Handlery Union Square last week. 1/2 block for the Square. You want to to stay in that area. There were so many store it was a shoppers paradise. It was like going into a candy store at DSW. We have them here, but every shoe had my size! You can take a bus into the other areas. Have fun and make sure you call the bank before you leave and let them know you'll be in California so your charge card isn't blocked.
