Sports event?

Can anyone help me with some suggestions on what sporting events will be happening between oct 24-nov 12 in Las Vegas/San Francisco/la? We are doing a bit of a trip around (driving) and want to experience the American sporting environment. Ideally we would love a baseball game but I believe this will be out of season during this time? Does anyone have any suggestions? Can be anything from baseball to motocross! We are in Las Vegas oct 24-oct29 San Fran oct 31st - 3rd and la 6-10th ish (not all set in stone as yet) . Thanks!

The world series for baseball (championship series) starts around October 22

Its too early to know who will be in the series, but there is usually sports bars, etc. and such showing the games....although not a live event (its hard to get tickets to the championship series) you might want to seek out a sports bar to see one of he games

Active sports while you are here is ice hockey (Anaheim - Los Angeles - San Jose (1 hour south of San Francisco) have ice hockey teams. LA Kings won the championship this past season.

College and pro football is going on - but your timing in your cities may be off.

If you were to be in LA November 1 you coudl consider going to the Rosebowl and seeing the home coming game for UCLA against Arizona.

Basketball is also starting up.

Why does the PP barely make mention of professional football? Oh, that's right, LA doesn't have a pro team.

Beginning this season the Forty Niners will be playing in their new stadium in Santa Clara, about an hour south of the city. Games are only once a week (mostly Sundays). The Niners will be playing at home on October 5 (against KC). Tickets are expensive however. There will be transit for the trip to Santa Clara from the city.

There is also college football and games are usually played Saturdays. In the Bay Area both Stanford and Cal would be options and stadiums are easy to get to from SF (BART to Berkeley for Cal or CalTrain to Palo Alto for Stanford). In the LA area, UCLA or USC are the big teams.

In both areas there are smaller schools which play as well.

USF and CSUSF both have various sports teams and are located right in the city.

In LV, UNLV is big for basketball.

For all the colleges, check the websites for the schools. There will be a section for their athletic programs with schedules and ticket info.

Since you posted in the SF forum look for the following events in the Bay Area. Most teams are playing outside SF

Bay Area Baseball. Could be one or two teams playing in the World Series which finishes by early November the last time this did happen was 1989

Basketball. Golden state warriors play In Oakland

Ice hockey. San Jose sharks play in San Jose

Football SF 49ers play in Santa Clara check schedule

As white d mentioned Stanford and Cal play college football in Berkeley or at Stanford

Unfortunately, your timing is off for Cal football, and too early for Univ. of Nevada at Las Vegas basketball.

Once you get your dates set, come back here.
