October visit to San Francisco

Hi guys.

We're visiting San Francisco from 5th October, Is this classed as peak season?

I'm specifically asking in terms of car rental? A lot of threads read that during peak seasons there may be issues/delays with car rentals .

We've booked with Avis to collect at 2pm on a weekday.

Any info would be most welcomed?

Cheers

Well October brings many conventions to SF so from that perspective as we'll as the fact that we have fleet week and marathons makes it a busy month. Are you an Avis wizard member ? If so you can get your car fast unless you have a paper coupon to turn in.

If not , why not ?

SF pickup at 2 should be fine

hi belomiser.

Never booked with Avis before but they have an 'Avis preferred' scheme that we have joined free of charge. not sure if this is the same thing as we've booked in the UK.

Look at your Avis Preferred card, if you have it, if not ask for one. It has a "wizard" number on the right side. I believe that belomiser asked if you are a "wizard" member. Same thing.
