Wine tasting in the city

Coming to San Francisco for 3 days in September and was hoping to go to Napa Valley wine tasting but I don't think we have time to take a day or even half day away from San Francisco.

So I wondered if there was anywhere in the city that did wine tasting?

Thanks

The Jug Shop on Pacific & Polk 5:30-7:30 on Thurs. nights. http://thejugshop.com/store/ phone ahead for the details. They take cards or cash and you end up tasting a lot for $10

There are tons of wine bars in the city. Three in my neighborhood alone. Where are you staying?

Thanks everyone.

We are there Saturday 13th Sept - Monday 15th Sept, flying to Vegas Tuesday morning. Staying at Holiday inn Fisherman's Whalf.

I gathered there would be lots of bars but didn't know if there were certain places that did wine tasting.

You're a 10 minute bus ride to the Marina.

You can walk to Columbus Ave in front of the Marriott and get the 30-Stockton (destination NOT Van Ness) to Chestnut and Fillmore.

Nectar on Steiner between Chestnut and Lombard is good. California Wine Merchant on Chestnut. Or Bin 38 on Scott between Chestnut and Lombard. All within 2 blocks of each other. I went to Nectar recently and had some interesting wine and yummy snacks (the grilled cheese was super good).

Going to a wine bar is not usually considered "wine tasting" but more like buying a flight or a glass of local wine(s). This can still give you a taste of how great our local wines can be!

There is an urban tasting room near the Four Seasons called the Press Club... it's actually 6 or 7 wineries who've combined resources. I believe you have to pay for the tastings, but it's the same idea as at the winery.

In addition to the Treasure Island wineries, I believe there there are some in Alameda, as well.

Wattle Creek Winery offers flights of their Sonoma wines in Ghirardelli Square. Yelp has some good reviews. Recent Groupon deal for 2 flights plus a bottle to take with you for around 40$. Any forum readers been there?
