October 12-18, most of hotels are sold, any event?

Hello.

We're planing to go there for a week then rent a car to North and South for another week. I am wondering any event on October 12-18? It seems most of hotels are sold out. Thank you.

Fleet week seems to be 9-13, so may have something to do with that (http://www.fleetweek.us)

Dreamforce has a convention that expects 46,000. Fleet Week isn't much of an impact on hotels as it's mostly attended by local Bay Area residents.

You might check Lombard St. Motor inns: Cow Hollow, Coventry and Chelsea are all nice. Prices will be higher than usual so if you're flexible with your dates you'll find more availability and lower prices.

It looks like dream force is Oct 13 to 16. http://www.salesforce.com/dreamforce/DF14/ and probably many people come early or stay late with that convention soaking up most of the rooms near downtown.

As WD says Lombard street is a possibility. If not, perhaps Japantown. Imo after those hotel clusters you're looking at Oakland or hotels even further out in San Francisco like near the beach (that actually take longer to commute to downtown San Francisco than from downtown Oakland).

I suppose there are a few random hotels off by themselves in various places like the Laurel Inn, Carl hotel, Becks motor lodge and they may not be on people's booking radar for big conventions.

Also, hotel Des Arts I believe has minimum stays of 7 nights for many rooms so it may repel many conventioneers.

Try swapping your itinerary. Do your roadtrip first them end in SF. You'll probably find hotel prices drop significantly in SF the following week.

Nike Women's Half Marathon is on October 19th, and Union Square hotels tend to fill up for this event.

Thank you all. After reading all your relies, I am thinking of renting a car to Napa Valley to Monterey to Big Sur then back to SF for a week. Thank you again!!!
