Looking for hotels/motels within walking distance of downtown Asheville. No Bed and Breakfasts.

THere are really only 2 - Haywood Park and Renaissance Hotel. There is a Best Western that has been renamed and supposedly redone but recent comments are still not so positive. Do NOT stay at the Days Inn downtown.

Thanks.

What would be the next closest area as far as hotels/motels? Biltmore,West etc.? We are not at all familiar witht the area. Looking for something clean and not too expensive (less than $150 per night).

ohmygosh...I just looked at where you are from...I graduated from West Chester!!

Anyway...Tunnel Road has some newer hotels. Not the best area because of all the mall traffic and chain restaurants, but very convenient to downtown.

The Best Western is now a completely renovated Four Points by Sheraton. There may be some minor things going on but it is worth checking in to because they may have promotional rates. My son's friends stayed there on the last visit and said the rooms are brand new and very nice. If not, the Renaissance - Asheville is across the street and is a nice place to stay. Both are downtown and within a short walking distance.
