March trip to Asheville

We are planning our first real get away to Shevlle first week in March. We wanted to go to Lake Louise in Banff, but just too much money for too cold. So we switched to Asheville so we can also take a day to see parents in NC.

We wanted to find a boutique hotel downtown, but no luck. Grove Park Inn is full, so can anyone recommend one of the of the B&Bs close in? We will be there for three nights. Our plan is to hike/bike during the days, rest up, start a bit of a pub-crawl, fun dinner, more pubs, then coffee shop for desert each night. We don't want to drive.

Also, where is the best places to go mountain bike???

The Haywood Park hotel is a boutique hotel located downtown. The location would be ideal for you to walk where ever you wanted to go. The Blue Ridge Parkway has numerous places to hike and bike. I know Dupont Forest located a little south of Asheville in Brevard is beautiful and has very scenic waterfall hikes. It may be worth checking out that website.

Thanks all. We are booked at the Whitegate Inn. It looks wonderful, and I would say a cross between a B&B and a boutique hotel. We would have chosen this place anyway, I think, but it would have been nice ot be able to learn about the one boutique hotel in downtown Asheville. They didn't surface on any number of different internet searches.

Sanford, you will not be disappointed. The Whitegate Inn is an excellent choice. It's easy walking distance to downtown, so you can enjoy your pub crawl without having to drive.

Be sure to come back and tell us about your trip!
