Sliding Rock or Chimney Rock???

Which would kids (ages 11 and 12) like better? Also, I know the road to Chimney Rock from Asheville is curvy, how's the road to Sliding Rock?

the two "rocks" are very different. Sliding Rock is a big swimming hole in Pisgah National Forest. People have a blast there but it can get crowded quickly and the water is ice-cold.

Chimney Rock is a state park - you hike up to the rock outcropping and have a killer view! There's also the town below with shops, restaurants, etc... Sliding Rock road is a little less curvy than the CR to A'Ville road - but neither are very bad in my opinion ( but I'm a native North Carolinian and I'm in the mountains a lot).

If you go to Sliding Rock, take time to visit the Cradle Of Forestry just down the road - cool place!

Best wishes.

If I was 12 I would like Sliding Rock better. It cost 1.00 and Chimney Rock is like 12.00. No problem with either road. Paved and well marked.
