Biltmore area ides

Hello,

We are planning a summer week long trip from Delaware to NC in order to see Biltmore. We are planning on 2 days to see the estate. Are there any other "must see" or "must drive" routes/attractions that we should try to incorporate while we are down there?

You did not mention is you be traveling with children. I will include those ideas in my suggestions. When you leave Asheville, you should consider driving the Blue Ridge Parkway into the Boone-Blowing Rock area. A 2.5 hour drive. It is beautiful and Blowing Rock is a quaint mountain village, full of activities, shopping, crafts and restaurants. It will be much cooler in the mountains.

Thanks for the links. I've sent for the NC tourguide but am awaiting the arrival. We enjoy historical sites, getting outdoors for light hiking/walking, enjoy being around water. We are used to doing a lot of "day trips" while on vacation working from a home base, but we have also traveled a route and spent a few nights in selected areas.

A short drive west of Asheville just off the BRP is Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls on highway 276. A few miles south of Looking Glass Falls is the state trout hatchery. The kids would like feeding the trout...heck I do lol.
