Is there good venue for live music that is child-friendly?

We are excited to visit Asheville for the first time with our four year old. Can anyone recommend a child-friendly venue for live music? We don't want a smoky bar where the music starts at 11pm. Rather we'd like a family-friendly venue that might serve food as well. We will be visiting on Jan 1st (Sun) and Jan 2nd (Mon), and are interested in hearing Appalachian/Folk/Bluegrass.

Thanks!

Well, being as there is NO SMOKING in North Carolina bars and restaurants you really need not worry too much about that factor.

I would suggest you look through Jambase.com for live music during the time you will be in Asheville. Just search the location and the dates and it'll give you an idea of who will be playing at the time.

As far as a place with decent food AND live music, you have slim to zero options. Most if not all places are strictly 'adults only'. Besides, the music would be way loud anyway.

But, for Bluegrass you might want to check out "Jack of the Wood' pub, they usually have something going on in the evenings.

Hi there,

The Asheville CVB here. Check out Blue Mountain Pizza in Weaverville. Not only do they have some of the best pizza in WNC, but they have great musicians playing just about every night. It's a great family restaurant located about 15 minutes north of downtown Asheville.
