Last minute lodging availability in mid April

We are planning our first trip to Ashville in mid April. We cannot decide where we want to stay, cabin in the mountains, or convenience of walking to restaurants and shops in downtown. Will we have trouble finding accomadations, if we wait untill we get there and check out our options?

Personally, I wouldn't wait until the last minute. You'll end but with slim to sub-par choices. It really depends on your budget and what you want to spend per night. April is a fairly busy month with Easter and Spring hitting the area and when things start picking up. It is better to plan ahead then get screwed with a lousy hotel room that might ruin the trip.

Hi there,

The Asheville CVB here. It's always best to plan ahead. Being in walking distance is always convenient, but keep in mind you'll probably want to drive around the area to take everything in. Look in the downtown area as well as the Biltmore Village area. There are also cabins located close to town that you could look into as well.

Have a fun trip!

I think you wouldn't have the trouble finding a room in April that you would in the fall as long as you don't hit it right on Easter weekend, but I'm not super picky, either!

Rooms/cabins will fill up completely in the mts in the fall. One memorable time in October we had to backtrack to Hickory from Boone to find a place.

most cabins and vacation rentals in the higher elvations wont reopen until late march around spring break time. still would get a reservation in on the location you choose.

Try the www.ashevilleurbannest.com - a condo in the middle of downtown. Really great location and nice digs.

Downtown lodgings get pretty busy beginning April/May, and get busier as the summer approaches. October in particular is a really busy time, so I would definitely plan ahead for fall.

It is better to plan ahead when arriving in Asheville/Black Mountain if you are interested in a cabin experience. Many cabin owners who handle their own rentals would need some advance notice to arrange for the cabin to be prepared for guests; they are often not onsite to take payment either. As a cabin owner who has two properties available year-round, I can safely say that making a reservation ahead of time, talking to the owner, finding out about what the property has to offer and reading other guest reviews will make for a better experience. We have had many a phone call from couples or families sitting in a parking lot in Black Mountain trying to find last minute accommodations. Owner rental cabins are not hotels!

Stay at Willow Winds which is just a few minutes from Asheville. They have some great cabins. Enjoy your visit.
