^ I agree the Grove Park Inn restaurants have the premier views among Asheville restaurants. Unfortunately the food is not quite as spectacular. It's not bad, but for the prices they charge (and in keeping with the overall excellence of the Inn), you'd expect it to be stellar and it's not quite there. I would strongly suggest going to the Inn for pre-dinner drinks on the terrace where you can enjoy wonderful sunset views, then go to one of the many other excellent restaurants in Asheville for dinner.

Definitely, Grove Park Inn. Pricey but worth it. We really enjoyed the food and would eat there again. Especially the homemade carmel sauce over ice cream. They have something for everyone. We are usually not buffet people, but this one is really good and well done. The views from your table are spectacular. The hotel itself is amazing.

Near Blowing Rock there's the Gamekeeper and Canyons. Both long range mountain views.
