One night in Asheville

Hi all planning a trip to Charlotte and thinking of spending next Saturday night in Asheville. Need some suggestions of "the best of the best" in Asheville for the day/evening. We are in our mid 20s, enjoy great food, micro beers, and seeing the scenery.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You did not say when you were traveling. What you see, can depend on the time of year. For great beer and "pub" food, Lexington Brewery, downtown. For outstanding food, Curate or Limone's. Reservations are needed.

Scenery! Drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Visit the Southern Highlands Craft Center at Black Mountain.

Enjoy!

Next Saturday is the Winter Warmer Beer Festival downtown from 3-7pm at the Civic Center. You'd dig that.

If you don't make it there, I'd recommend swinging by the newest brewery in Asheville.

Right on Biltmore Avenue next to the Orange Peel. Excellent beer and a great scene. Eat there, walk up Biltmore Ave, hit the WXYZ Bar in the new ALOFT hotel, swing across the street to Barleys for another craft beer. Head up Biltmore Ave to Patton, turn left and stop in either the Thirsty Monk, Jack in the Wood pub or the Yacht Club. Catch some live music. Have a great time. Pass out. Then have brunch the next morning at Over Easy Cafe in downtown on Broadway.

If you follow this plan, my friend, you won't be disappointed.

A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed just north of Asheville. You can check for weather-related closures this time of year also.

I am always cautious about suggesting the "best" when there are so many excellent choices. If you focus on downtown, you can sample a huge smorgasbord without breaking a sweat.

The suggestions above are all good. I would add Chestnut, on Biltmore Ave. downtown , across from aLoft, for an amazing dinner, Sazerac ,a really great cocktail bar a few blocks north on Biltmore, and stay up late listening to live music at one of too many to list places...you can get your caffeine fix , your dessert fix, your gourmet potato chip fix, your hand-rolled Honduran Cuban-seed cigar fix, get your bike fixed, etc. all within a safe, easily walkable 5 blocks . If it's a warm ( for February) evening, check out the view of the sun setting over the distant mountains from Sky Bar atop the Flat Iron building , enjoy a drink, great coffee.
