March 22-24 weekend; romance, scenery, beer/wine - on budget

Fiance and I are meeting 1/2way between or current locations while he is on short military leave. Asheville seemed like a nice getaway with things we both like (mostly the beer for him :) wine for me - hiking and arts district for both. Suggestions needed for narrowing down options for:

1. lodging ($135/nt or less). Don't mind not being in the town.

2. Any music/cultural events happening next weekend

3. Medium-end restaurants - fresh, non-chain, good service, view or fun atmosphere.

4. Wineries/breweries to visit in 2 days.

5. Any other suggestions for activities for cash-strapped star-crossed lovers who desperately need time together before he deploys again. :) Hopefully the weather cooperates and we can get in a hike or 2.

For events check out Exploreasheville.com They also have dining info. Depends on your tastes, but you can't go wrong with Barleys on Biltmore Ave, Wicked Weed brewery, Packs Tavern, Thirsty Monk, Yacht Club or Asheville Pizza & Brewery. All downtown and easy to find. You might have some luck on Expedia as far as an affordable hotel room. If room quality is not a concern you could look at the Downtown Inn & Suites. It is cheap, right in downtown close to everything, and safe. The only winery is the Biltmore Estate and its not that great. There are nice wine bars like 5 Walnut and Sante. The Grove Arcade in downtown has good dining options. You could check out Highland Brewery too, they have a nice taproom and live music on weekends.
