Hi. Should be close to peak foliage that week in the areas in between Asheville and the higher elevations on the Blue Ridge Parkway, though the timing varies each year. Take a drive on Highway 276 through Pisgah National Forest near Brevard up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful fall drive, though we've had a ton of rain this spring/summer so don't know what the fall colors will be like this year.

Enjoy!

I agree with mtnwriter. The colors will be peak from Asheville to highway 215. I suggest going north on highway 215. You will find awesome colors here as well as some nice waterfalls. You will have the road to yourself. South on 215 off the BRP is also a pretty drive.

Hotels book early. That's peak season. Should be no shortage of things to do.

Another great way to view the fall colors is on the water. It's a more intimate and connected way to experience the foliage, rather than driving through going 60 MPH. You feel the sun on your back, the wind against your face, and hear the sounds or moving water and breeze rustling through the leaves. There are outfitters 25-30 minutes outside of Asheville. Blue Heron Whitewater does trips year round and has wet/dry suits and warmer clothing, if the temps are cooler.
