Friday or Monday in Boston?

My wife and I have the chance of spending a long weekend in Boston. We can go either Friday to Sunday or Saturday to Monday. Would it make a great difference?

We're not into nightlife or shopping. We'd like to go to museums and just walk around.

I'd prefer Saturday to Monday because I could save a little on the hotel, but it's not too much to be decisive factor.

Thanks.

When are you considering going? If you come on a holiday weekend, such as labor day, it will be much more crowded and airfare will be higher if you stay from Saturday to Monday. Also, some restaurants are closed on mondays.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the museum of fine arts free on Friday afternoon?

Thanks for the reply.

We're planning to go within the next three weekends. I can choose to have a free day from work but I want to do it within a month or my manager might forget about it.

Airfare is not a factor. I'm currently in NYC for a temporary assignment and we'll take a bus. Hotel prices matter, though. I'm looking at something between 120 and 170USD.

I recommend Friday-Sunday, primarily because the fascinating & unique Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is closed on Mondays -- as is the Institute of Contemporary Art, now in new quarters,

Boston By Foot offers a number of more specialized guided walking tours you might find interesting, e.g., Beacon Hill and Boston Underfoot:
