Fenway is easily reachable by public transportation. The Green Line of the T drops you right in Kenmore Square (where Fenway is located) and the Green Line also has a Fenway stop.

The real Cheers is about a mile from Fenway, on Beacon Street and is a very easy (and pleasant) walk. The tourist trap Cheers (made to look exactly like the set of the TV show) in in Fanueil Hall, a bit of a hike but also reachable by the T.

Just be sure to get any tickets before you arrive. Tickets are nearly impossible to get without going through a ticket broker. The tour of Fenway Park is fun tour and worth doing.

The MBTA (subway/bus) system in Boston is excellent and you can get most places using this or walking. Boston is very walkable place unlike other cities that are very spread out.

Check out TripAdv pages for sites to see in Boston. Lots of good info here:

Freedom Trail is tops on many people's list. YOu can do part of it and see quite a bit of Boston's history.

Some tourists like to get the Go Boston card that allows them entry over several days to many sites. Check it out and see if it would be worth it to you (it has restaurant discounts too):
