Girls Night in Boston

There are 9 girls (ages range from 23-30) heading to Boston on Friday night to celebrate birthdays. We have a limo and basically were looking for a pretty central area to go, where we can be dropped off and walk to a few places. We will be arriving close to 10 p.m. so no dinner but places for some great cocktails, pretty affordable. We are not into the club scene but do like bars, lounges, even places with some music is great.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Around Downtown Crossing might work: you have Felt, Ivy, the Good Life, JJ Foleys, all within a 5 minute walk and those places aren't so young as say, Faneuill Hall-area bars (or as clubby as places in The Alley).

Also well worth checking out are Top Of The Hub, Prudential Center, nothing like a cocktail 50 stories up!, 33 Restaurant & Lounge on Stanhope St. Ultra chic lounge, love the colors and lighting. Right around the corner from the 33 is Cuff's. It's at the Hotel Jurys. A real happening, lively place. Gypsy Bar on Boylston St, very near the Boston Common is another one I recommend.

Boylston Street - Vox Populi, Cactus Club, Rattlesnake Bar, Solas, Dillon's, Lir.

While there, check out Sonsie on Newbury Strret, Match on Mass Ave.

Also near both Downtown Crossing and the theater district, "Teatro" which is right on the Boston Common. It's a restaurant but there is a very lively scene at the bar.

Are Downtown Crossing and Bolyston Street pretty close to each other?

There is limited nightlife in Downtown Crossing. Faneuil Hall/Haymarket has the most bars/clubs/pubs in a concentrated area, but attracts a slightly younger, party focused crowd. Boylston Street is a slightly more professional, less tourist heavy, area.

One end of Boylston runs into Downtown Crossing, but that is a lot of walking (and bar hopping with some dead zones). You could walk, but I would take cab or subway between Boylston and Haymarket to make the most of your time.

It depends where on Boylston street you are talking about. Cactus club is way downt eh other end of the long street. Here is a nice site with Downtown Crossing info. http://www.downtowncrossing.org

For the most part the two areas have Boston Common between them but I would walk down to the end of Tremont steet and pickup Boylston there. Boylston is a fairly long street. If you have a limo available I would opt to get picked up and driven from one spot to another. There are plenty of clubs in both areas to entertain you but if you want a change in scenery have them drive you. Also, make sure your driver studies the roads, many are one way through there and are easy enough to figure out if you look at the flow of traffic on a map BEFORE trying to drive them.

Thanks for all of your help and keep the posts coming! It looks as though we might start at Bolyston Street for a cocktail or two and then have the limo take us to the Fanuiel Hall area? Some of the girls say they want to dance but not looking for a serious out of control club, something low key with good music, top 40 or 80's. Thanks again!
