What to do on Christmas Day 2008?

Hello all,

We are an Irish family of four adults travelling to Boston on Dec 22nd til 27th. We have no plans made for Christmas day yet and are wondering whether anyone can recommend a good restaurant package/other activities to keep us occupied on Dec 25th?

We are staying in self catering accomdation in the Beacon Hill area so anywhere in or around the centre of Boston would suit.

Thank you!

You might want to check boston.com for listings of events that day. Most stores and restaurants will be closed. There may be ice skating available on the Frog Pond in Boston Common. or you are welcome to join my Irish family if you want to witness insanity.

Most everything is closed (like the Boston Common ice skating). However, you'll have the city to yourself if you want to walk the Freedom Trail. Boston CityWalks is having a Jewish Cultural Walking Tour. Or you can visit Chinatown and have a lunch or dinner there.

There's always the movies. At most movie theaters Christmas is a big day for movie premiers. Many Chinatown restaurants are open also. The end of this week there will be postings on what restaurants will be open.

There's a good amount of non-Chinese restaurants open. You can look on opentable.com to make a reservation.

If you go to opentable.com (a restaurant reservation site) you can enter Dec. 25 and a time and see what restaurants are taking reservations on Christmas day. You can also link to the restaurants's sites and see if they are promoting anything special for that day.

Pat Whitley's Restaurant show (Sunday mornings - 10 AM to 1PM on WRKO AM 680) usually talks about what restaurants are open the week before Christmas.

Checking Open Table is an excellent idea! You can limit by town, time prefered etc.
