Charlie Ticket vs Charlie Card - Travel in Boston

Hello, my fiance and I are starting our honeymoon in Boston and Maine. We are flying into Boston, will be spending two full days in there at the start of trip getting the train up to Portland, and one day in Boston two weeks later at the end of our trip. Which is the most cost effective way for both of us to use the subway? Thanks

Assuming you use all the money loaded on your card or ticket, the most cost-effective is the Card....since the Card costs nothing vs. a Ticket, and the Card charges slightly lower rates per ride than the Ticket.

With the tickets subway rides are $2 each, with the card $1.70 each. The cards themselves are free and you load them with however much you want to at kiosks in the stations. Attendants are usually around the kiosks in the busiest stations. Ask them for a card.

You can also load your Charlie Card on the T bus and on the Green line trolleys.
