Whale watching trips

Should we book a trip before we arrive in Boston (early Oct) or would it be ok to just turn up on the day?

I would wait until you come to check out weather conditions. Make sure you bring layers: a waterproof wind breaker (hopefully lined), a sweater or sweatshirt and a long sleeved shirt as well. Gloves, a hat and subscreen are helpful, too.

You probably won't need to book too far ahead. I would suggest waiting to see what the weather is going to be like before deciding when to go. Then make a reservation or call them to see how full they are. Even in "peak" season you probably would only need to book it a few days in advance. Plus Oct is starting to get a little late for whale watching in that it starts to get cool here and even colder out on the water. We went in July and I needed a sweatshirt so I can't imagine what it could be like in Oct.
