Casual place to eat on the way to Kimball's off Rt 2

Meeting my friends for dinner after 10 years away. Dessert will be at Kimball's, but they are asking me where I want to go for dinner. They all live in Boston, but they are asking me! They are picking me up in Kendall Square. Any recommendations? We'll be 3 couples and a few singles, possibly 2-4 kids.

You can eat right at Kimball 's not only do they have hamburgers and hot dogs but they offer a large selection of New England Seafood choices like fried clams, lobster rolls etc...

Enjoy!

Ooh, I don't remember that! I'm just so excited to see my friends and to have a creamery ice cream cone. We don't have anything like that here in SF and it's one of the joys of summer I miss about Boston. That and the scooperbowl!

They seem to be adding something new each year. I think the Grill and food tent has been there for about two years??? I still enjoy taking my kids to Kimballs even though it is getting commercialized. Their ice creams are the best in New England, IMHO.

Enjoy!

I'm a little reluctant to eat mini-golf food and two of us are Weight Watchers who are splurging on Kimball's, so maybe a good place for a salad?

Actually the food is pretty good not your typical mini-golf food. It's traditional New England seafood and regular grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. If you are looking for salads then you can take a long scenic ride to their Jaffery, NH location where they serve salads, even lobster caesar salad.

Enjoy!

On Rt 2 from Cambridge, there's Summer Shack at Alewife, Paparazzi in Concord before the Concord Prison Rotary, and Not Your Average Joe's in Acton, a minute off Route 2 at Exit 42, all kid friendly.

I have not been to Kimball's in a couple of years..but from what I remember of their portion sizes..I would skip dinner altogether and just go with the ice cream.

They are serving salads now at their Westford location. They also offer watermelon and corn on the cob. On Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, they are serving lobsters and steamers, too. We just spent the day there today and the entire family had a blast!

Sushi House next to Paparazzi on Rt 2 westbound in Concord. There are two Italian restaurants on Rt 2 A westbound in Acton, Bella Famiglia and Il Forno (in a strip mall with a Bickfords). Il Forno is BYOB.
