Pseudo Birthday Dinner for my partner with old friends...

Hello,

I am coming to Boston for the first time tomorrow along with my partner and we are meeting up with another couple Saturday who are also from out of town. We are staying at the Omni Parker House and will be without a car, though we are fine to walk and take public transport. I was looking for somewhere to have a nice dinner Saturday and doing a ghost tour afterward. (My partner's birthday was the 18th). There are so many choices, it is a bit overwhelming. I was trying to read through the forums and thought I would just go ahead and ask. As far as type of food, we are open but would like something local that features local cuisine even if not the main focus. As far as price goes, probably in the range of 25-30 for entrees. At first, I thought something along the water would be nice with a view...but I wasn't sure if that would be the best option. As far as dress, we'd prefer somewhat casual...nice jeans, sweater, no tennis shoes, etc...but not suit and tie. Any suggestions are welcome and we are all very exited about our trip!!!

Hi, It is hard to pin down a specific local cuisine. Of course, there is seafood & just about every restaurant has some on there menu, but there are many good Italian, French & Steak restaurants (among others) Here are a couple of suggestions, all easy to get to without a car and in your desired price range.

Take a look at Market in the W Hotel. It's an easy walk from your hotel. It's kind of trendy/chic, but pretty casual. Ingredients kind of slant to the local. Service and food is good and it's not horribly pricey.

I can second Eastern Standard. Great atmosphere and a very Bostonian vibe. Dining here is typically casual unless you are going way upscale, so you will be fine there. It should be a nice weekend, have fun and welcome!

Saturdays can be busy, try to get a reservation if you can.
