What is your favourite restaurant in Boston?

We will be in Boston at the end of March. We love all (most) types of food!

So...I know everyone has different tastes and different budgets, but I'm just curious what YOUR favourite restaurant or meal was and why!

Thanks!

Abe & Louies on Boylston. Great service, fantastic wine list and spectacular food.

Jacob Wirth, but I don't get out much. I just feel very comfortable there, always order the Sauerbraten, and Hofbrauhaus helles lager by the pitcher.

My favorite meal is Swordfish Vinaigrette served OVER pasta at the Daily Catch on Northern Ave. But I must be honest, the food is always top notch but the service is hit or miss. The Hanover Street location in the North End is tiny, to the point of being "too close for comfort" with fellow diners ... but because of it size, does not seem to have the service issues.

I love lobster bisque at Legal Seafood.

Toro in the South End. Great tapas, cool crowd and delish sangria.

The Boston Eater site asked a few food writers a similar question at the end of the year. What were your top restaurant standbys in 2011?

My husband and I included Island Creek Oyster Bar, Rendezvous Central Square, Neptune Oyster, Hamersley's Bistro, Coppa, Bistro du Midi, Trident Booksellers + Cafe, Pho Basil, India Samaraat and Cafe Jaffa in our reply. You can read all the replies and some details on ours at this link.

A wide cross section of tastes was represented in the Eater poll which is also what you'll get when you ask this question to any group. You have those who are most comfortable in steakhouses and chain restaurants, those who have sentimental favorites, those who love ethnic food, those you like fresh and local sourcing, those who judge by price and so on.

Tell us what type of restaurants you normally enjoy and we can find a better match for you in Boston.

My vote also goes to Abe & louie's. My husband and I had a wonderful time in this great city in 2009 and we are returning this June . Hopefully we will be visiting for which I know will be a fantastic meal and great service.

I've never been to India Samaraat. Have to check it out.
