The area around tufts is loaded with nice inexpensive restaurants. You may want to walk around Davis or Porter Square Somerville, when done with the tour.

Yes, Davis Square is roughly a mile or less from the main part of Tufts campus. You might want to check out the bars he's going to hang around in.

But seriously, generic advice for any college tour -- look beyond the tour guide. It's amazing that the potential student projects that the entire student population is just like the tour guide. For example if he's geeky and your student doesn't like geeks he will thumb his nose up at the school. Likewise if he's cool or preppy or whatever.

Thanks, those are great points. Especially the bar point. We will be sure to check out Dsvis and Porter Square. Thanks so much!

From Davis you can take the Red Line two stops to Harvard Square which is certainly worth a look if you haven't been.

On your tour, ask if there are any ways to personalize the tour, like if science labs are special, check that out, or speak to a student in a major that your child may consider, or ask to sit in on a class that may be of interest. Most colleges are willing to go the extra mile, esp., when they cost so much for tuition.
