Priceline 3-4 * hotel help

I'm attending a conference at the Westin Boston Waterfront on July 12-15. Hubby and I are coming in early on Saturday the 7th to see the city a bit before I have to start the conference. I can book the Westin at the conference rate of $179 all week, but wondered about trying to stay someplace more central to the tourist sites for the 7th-11th, then switching over to the Westin once the conference starts. Suggestions? If we stay at a different hotel, I'd like it to be less than the $179 we'd pay at the Westin. Thx.

Hi Alanm!

I posted it deep within another thread, and was encouraged to post as it's own thread. Do you have suggestions for me?

Thanks!

You can go thru the threads and get ideas on the different sites. The discount sites are easy enough to use.

Your conference rate is pretty good. The westin is not terribly out of the way.

On lastminutetravel.com I see a 4 star Back Bay hotel for $154 p/n. That's the Hilton Back Bay. The 3 star for $159 is the Park Plaza, and the 4 star for $191 is the Back Bay Hotel. You can check their photos with those of the hotels so you know what hotel you're getting. It's not a lot of savings but mounts up over 5 nights.

I'd take the Back Bay Hotel if it was my choice. It's well located and is in the old Boston Police Headquarters.

Your alternative might be to rent a car and spend some time in Maine or on Cape Cod before your conference. There's enough to keep you busy in Boston though, and you'd have time for a day trip or two.
