Please Help With the Weather Question

O.k. here's the deal. I'm from Texas and I can handle the heat but not so good with cold and cold to me is something that's slightly cool, add in a little wind and I'm running for a jacket! My husband would say it was nice and I would be cold. So were coming next week and the forecast is for high 70's which here I would be fine in shorts and short sleeves but my husband says it's cooler near the water. We will also spend several days in Conn. at the casino but we will be doing day trips in the area. So how cool will the upper 70's be? Will it be considerably cooler in the evenings if we have dinners at outdoor restaurants. I'm afraid I'm going to pack too many warm clothes. Is summer in Boston like it is here? Please help or I'll end up packing everything I own.

Summer in Boston is not like summer in Texas.

High 70's is high 70's wherever you are, and at that temperature a breeze is pleasant rather than chilling. The problem is, there's no guarantee that the temperature will be in that range. Normally by mid-June the evenings are mild and pleasant, but New England weather is notoriously unpredictable, and I've been chilly on the Fourth of July.

Boston is a windy city, so there's always a chance of a breeze, especially near the water. I suggest you pack a sweater or light jacket and a pair of jeans or slacks. If you have plans to dine out in the evening, unless it's a hot day with no forecast of dropping temperautures--in which case shorts and short sleeves shoukld be fine--wear the long pants just in case, and take the cover-up along.

If it gets cold enough that these modest garments don't seem to be sufficient, stay in your hotel. The world is ending.

Pack light, if you get cold, go to Marshall's and buy a hoodie.

Island...last week, I was still sleeping with the down comforter on the bed and I had to close the window in the bedroom because it was so cold.

A month ago, it hit 90 here.

It is true that especially this time of year it is usually somewhat cooler along the coast, that has been the case the past few days. Also, in Summer in downtown Boston it can be Texas hot in the morning, and the temperature can drop 30 degrees in 10 minutes if there is a wind shift off the harbor.

If you are really that sensitive to cold, I'd wear long pants and a light top and bring a light sweater, and then you will be prepared for most anything.

You'll probably want a sweater anyway for chilly, air-conditioned restaurants.

I've frozen in June and I've baked, too. But, generally, it's pretty pleasant and not as humid as later in the summer. The weather forecasts here are not at all reliable more than a couple of days out. So, check right before you are coming to get a better idea what you should take.

I just checked the forecast next week on weather.com. Temps range from 76 to 85, sunny every day. However, things can change quickly. So, I'd pack a couple light sweaters.

Lighter clothes layered should be fine.

Most likely you'll think the evenings are cool. Bring a couple of long sleeved shirts and a light jacket.

Bring a light sweater for the casinos. They keep them pretty chilly.
