Live Music Gigs

Hi there,

I'm an early 30's female from Australian travelling with a mate the same age to Boston in mid-September.

I am looking for some local live music gigs and wondering the best way to find "local" info - is there a "village voice" equivalent that lists local music gigs?

I'm keen to see some local bands play while I'm there - not interested in big arena events, just good live music venues with like-minded music lovers.

I would appreciate any information anyone can provide?

Cheers,

Mel

Berklee College of Music has a series of concerts still running in September. Here's the link. These are often free or low cost. And, you get to see the stars of tomorrow.

Usually your best bet for live music would be Middle East in cambridge, they have about 3 live acts going at a time most nights. Otherwise you will find the dreaded "Boston Cover Band" playing at many places, if overplayed journey, bon jovi, etc is your thing

Pick up a free copy of Improper Bostonian, look for them in the blue newspaper box in Copley Square and other locations. They also have an on-line version http://www.improper.com/

The Weekly Dig is also free and is also on-line

If you like folk Club Passim is one of my favorite places
