Breakfast near the Doubletree Downtown

We are staying at the Doubletree on Washington Street in a couple of weeks. Breakfast is not included in the room rate. It will be me, husband, and 4 children ages 17, 15, 12, and 9. Is there a diner or a reasonably priced breakfast place close by?

This cafe is a short walk from your hotel and has really great breakfasts:

They are not open Monday/tuesday though. Another option which you would probably want to take a taxi, is the Paramount on Charles St. I suppose you could walk as well. It might be 15 minutes or so.

In the other direction, down Washington St. into the South End, is Mike's City Diner, which has fantastic breakfasts. Huge omelets and big stacks of pancakes, etc. It would be a very short cab ride, or you could hop the Silver Line down Washington St., or it would be about a 15 minute walk.

There are some great options in the area. As mentioned below, Mike and Patty's has awesome breakfast sandwiches, but no seating. Its more of a grab and go. There is also South Street Diner, about 5 blocks from that hotel. Sal and his team have serve a great menu and the place has a pretty cool history. There are, of course, also some fast food options....Dunks, McDonals, Subway, etc. all within a block or two. If you need any additional advise, please let us know!

McDonalds is doing a promo until the end of the month. Load up on coupons before you get here and do a few breakfasts here. Three pancakes for two dollars and coffee for a buck is reasonable.

The nice thing about McDonalds is, as long as you're buying something, they don't care if you bring in something like juice.

South street dinner can take a while to get served.

If you walk up Tremont Street towards the start of the Freedom Trail, you'll find Black Seed Cafe between Temple Place and Winter Street. You order at a counter, grab a table and they call you when ready; service is paper plates and plastic flatwear. They have a good array of breafkast food including bagels, fruit salad, eggs and bacon, pancakes. And their prices are very good.

Also on tremont street before you hit get to Black Seed is The Thinking Cup. It's an upscale coffee shop that also has great pastry and serves breakfast sandwiches and oatmeal. You also order at the counter and wait for your name to be called to pick up your order ... but they use REAL dishes and metal eating utensils. Prices are higher here than at Black Seed.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will look into these. Unfortunately, my children are not big on the fast food places for breakfast. A diner would be more to our liking. Thanks!
