Hotel for JFK Library/Brookline/Faneuil Hall

2 sisters traveling to Boston in early Sept to visit JFK Library, JFK Boyhood Home in Brookline & Faneuil Hall area. Thinking of staying at Embassy Suites Logan for airport shuttle, suite & inclusive breakfast. Would welcome suggestions for other options. Will be using public transportation & hotel budget is at $200 or less per night. Thanks!

None of the places you want to go are near the hotel. Did you choose mainly because of the breakfast? Why not stay someplace central Downtown where you can walk to Faneuil Hall and the Freedom Trail and you have easy direct access to the subway for the JFK Library and Brookline? Like perhaps the Parker House or Nine-Zero.

I agree with Alan but don't know if you budget is sufficient for September. Hotels prices can fluctuate from one day to the next depending on what is happening in town. If you give us your exact dates we might be able to find something better. Don't worry about an airport shuttle. The airport is close to downtown and a $2.50 subway ride (or maybe even a Free one) will get you from the airport to any downtown hotel.

It's going to kind of be a pain in the neck staying there.. If you can swing it try to get something downtown. It will be much more convenient and enjoyable. Unless you need a big breakfast every day don't worry about breakfast, just go to Dunkin or somewhere and get a coffee and muffin/donut for $5 or so. Don't worry about airport shuttle. As stated subway is cheap, but a cab would only be about $30 or so from airport to downtown. Split two ways that's not much.

Suggestion is to look on TA or other sites for a hotel downtown which is what FMP or others will do because we are not travel agents and have no special powers. Then when you find something and want an opinion, happy to chime in. You will have a better time in town but if keep reservation, not end of world.

Thanks all for your comments. Travel dates are 9/5 - 9/9. Also wondering if something out in Cambridge might be a better option?

Hotel prices fluctuate quite a bit, even from day to day. If you provide your exact dates, forum members may be able to provide suggestions that will fall within your budget.

For instance, If it's the first weekend in September, there are some good, centrally located options on LastMinuteTravel.com for under $200. If it's another date, prices may be much higher. Let us know specifics and we can help. Can you two share a bed?

Cambridge is really not "out" there. It is almost an extension of Boston and the hotels there tend to not be much, if at all cheaper than those in Boston. If you find something in Cambridge make sure it is walking distance to a subway stop or else it won't be very convenient. If you do find one, it would be an easy ride to the JFK library since it would be on the Red Line. Maybe take a look at the Marriott Residence Inn in Kendall Square, Cambridge or the Kendall Hotel in Kendall Square.

For you dates, Hotels.com shows the park plaza hotel for $130. That is their petite room with one double bed. But if you click on the offer you will see more. You can get a deluxe room with one king bed or a standard room with two doubles. This is a decent hotel in a great location. It says " free cancellation" but you will pay in full upon booking. I have used this site for booking in NY with no issues.

They also have the Onyx for $209 but for your plans I like the location of the park plaza better

Beware of the really cheap hotels on this site. They use boston in their names but are not in Boston. Some are totally impractical without a car.

Wait!!!! The park plaza's own website has the same prices. I would book directly with them. They also have a standard king room for $154.

This is much better located than the airport hotel.

Thanks for all responses. Am just now getting back to travel planning. Have read some good reviews for Marriott Tudor Residence Inn & Residence Inn Boston Logan/Chelsea. Does anyone have an opinion on these for location & our itinerary? We were favoring the Embassy Suites since they offer airport shuttle, breakfast & suite accommodations at a moderate price & would be interested in something similar as long as we could get around easily on public transportation. Thanks in advance.
