Bunker Hill area hotel vs South Boston

Trying to decide rather to stay at the Holiday Inn Bunker Hill or Holiday Inn Express South Boston. Both places are close to T stops but are the areas safe to walk back to the hotels at night?

Holiday Inn Bunker Hill? Is that what they call the one in Somerville now? Neither one is ideally located for tourist activities .... but I would give a slight edge to Somerville because there is a bit more around the hotel.

Neither. Let us know your dates and budget. Maybe we could help find something else.

Try Priceline for a Copley Square hotel if there are only two of you traveling. Neither of these locations is very good.

Our dates are Sunday Sept 1 to Thurs Sept 5th. We can get either hotel for under $125 with Friends and Family rate. Yes, the Holiday Inn Bunker Hill is in Somerville. We need a hotel with free parking because we will have a car. We don't mind taking the T into the city. Are these areas not safe at night or just not close to anything?

On last minute travel the 3.5 -star hotel in Back Bay Area/Boston is the copley marriott which is a fabulous location. It's $152/night which is a great deal at this time of year. I don't know how much the parking is but it's probably expensive. Any way to ditch the car while you're in Boston?

I'm not familiar enough with Somerville to tell you if it's safe or not. There was just a random murder in south Boston last week of a young woman and it has that part of Boston on edge. Personally I wouldn't be walking around there at night.

lastminutetravel also has the park plaza hotel for $147/night. But again you pay for parking. valet is $46/night or self park in an area garage.

Whatever you do you should book fast. Boston hotels have been busy this summer and typically get very busy around labor day. The back bay Hilton was booked solid this past week.

The Holiday Inn Somerville isn't horrible. It's an easy walk to Sullivan Square Orange Line which will get you anywhere in the city in 15 minutes. It's also close to hip Union Square in Somerville which has some awesome bars, cafe's and restaurants. (Also the Neighborhood which is the best brunch in town.)
