Boston during the World Series

We are thrilled that the Red Sox won the pennant. We will be in Boston for business during games six and seven if they haven't won by then. Where would be a good bar to watch the games close to the Sheraton Back Bay?

Plenty of places along Boylston St right by your hotel (McGreevy's, Whiskey's, etc). Champions is in the Marriott Copley Place about a 5 minute walk from your hotel.

You'll find that there are plenty of places but if the Series goes 6 or 7 games pretty much everyplace in Boston, especially your entire area, will be jammed with people so you might end up having to go with whatever place you can get into.

Any bar with a TV will have the game on. A lot will depend on the atmosphere you're looking for and the level of crowds you can tolerate. It's a college town, so you will find many bars in the area near Fenway jammed with kids in their 20s. The Marriott Copley has a nice bar with a ginormous TV. You'll find an older crowd there.

The Warren Tavern in Charestown (in the shadow of Bunker Hill) claims to be the "oldest" tavern in Massachusetts.

Sox in 4. Maybe you'll be here for the parade though.

But 'just in case'. If you're just looking for excitement and actually watching the game is secondary, I'd head over to near the park. Not that any other bar in other areas showing the game will anything but lively the park area is kind of ground zero. Get there really early so you can get in.

Otherwise, not really sure. Probably no need for advanced planning and just go by looks.

For you, Champions at the Marriott Copley, hands down. One huge (for an indoor) screen and 20-30 more normal-size ones. Otherwise, the beer is cheaper at several of the pubs along Boylston and Newbury.

The more expensive the beer the less crowded and fancier (older) crowd. Cheaper beer and snacks = more kids (i.e. college kids). That's been my experience anyway.

Champions or Kings Back Bay would be good options.

Thanks for the replies. Ogi, I hope you are right. It's been a LOOOOONG time since any of our Minnesota teams have created any excitement for us so we are really looking forward to being part of the Boston craziness!
