Can I fish in Boston around late May without spending a ton?

My wife and I are coming for a conference in late May. I love to fish and try to fish every place we go. I would like to go fishing in the area, but I don't want to spend hundreds on one trip. We have other travel plans already set up later this summer that I am committed to fishing on and will save for those. I grew up Stripe Bass fishing, but would really like to catch anything that would give a good fight from freshwater to salt it doesn't matter.

Any other suggestions of things we can do on a limited budget. We will only be there for a few days. Oh and of course we want to eat Seafood but both have to eat Gluten Free. So suggestions on a can't miss seafood place would be great too. Thanks

Legal Seafoods will prepare any fish the way you want, including several variants of gluten free. They will even catch them for you, too. There are several locations throughout the city.

I personally enjoy the summer shack on Dalton Street. Great fish tacos.

Here is a listing of public fishing piers on Boston Harbor. All you need is bait and a fishing rod, so it should be in your price range:

In answer to "Any other suggestions of things we can do on a limited budget", most of the suggestions in the Top Questions section are affordable and many are free. Walk the Freedom Trail, explore Beacon Hill, stroll around Harvard Yard and Harvard Square, stroll around the North End. Have a meal there.

Whale Watching usually starts to get good in May. It's not low cost but not super pricey either. Keep an eye on sighting reports close to your travel time. They migrate to the area in Spring. No, I'm not suggesting you "fish" them, just thought they might interest you :-)

Thanks everyone. I'm responding through my cell and didn't realize my post was showing up. All these replies are great.

Anyone know a good Christian church we should check out? I run a Outdoors part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes here in SC and think it would be cool to share about visiting a church there. I also teach 8th grade US History. We focus on Boston about as much as Charleston at least pre civil war.
