Shows July 17-20

We will be in Boston July 17-20, and are looking for a nightime activity (or 2), maybe a show, maybe a concerts at a small/midsize venue (for example, NOT interested in seeing Timberlake at the Td Garden), could even be a bar offering good entertainment. I understand it’s not super clear and there must be lots of options, but I can’t seem to find anything, except the big concerts. Any sites I can use to browse, or any ideas?

Blue Hills Bank Pavilion (used to be Bank of America Pavilion) in the Seaport District has a few shows those dates. livenation.com/venues/14347/blue-hills-bank-…

Also try Middle East in Cambridge; House of Blues in Boston. Linking a couple articles below, I only gave a quick glance but they appear to be up to date.

Take a look at Boston.com Entertainment section:

www.boston.com/entertainment…

Also look at discount ticket site, Bostix.org

Also, Blue Man Group is always playing and is a fun take in. They often have half-price tickets available at Bostix.

Two more places with music and food are the Beehive in the South End, and the Beat Hotel in Harvard Square. Two long-running shows are Blue Man Group and Shear Madness.

Pick up a copy of the Improper Bostonian for their listings when you get to town.

The Sinclair is a small concert venue in Harvard Square in Cambridge with a good restaurant attached. In July the outdoor deck will be open for dining.

A few more ideas: Club Passim in Harvard Square in Cambridge; food is available.

Outdoor concerts at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade.

The Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum offer concerts though I don't see any overlapping with your dates. It may be worth checking later for updates to their calendar.

http://www.digboston.com Is a local alternative paper that has listings for events.

http://calendar.boston.com/ has listings for all the local clubs and bars like the Brighton Music Hall, Paradise, TT The Bear's, Johnny D's, etc. Plus they have listings for other music events, lectures, theater etc.

http:;//www.artsboston.org is a great resource for all sorts of events and concerts as well.

You can also google the event locations directly for listings

Brighton Music Hall, Paradise, The Roxy, Orpheum Theater, Middle East, TT The Bear's, Beehive

That's just a partial list to get you started.

One other good resource I use is the City of Boston's visitor website. It has information on all the free concerts and events all over the city:

Thanks for all that everyone. I'll get started looking through all these ressources. I'll come back if I have any further questions.

You may need to keep checking back on some of the sites. It's still a bit early for some events to be posted for July. I think you will see more things on the City's web site especially, come June.
