North End Eateries

My mom and I will be in Boston over the weekend and I'm looking for recommendations on authentic Italian restaurants in the North End. Looking for quaint places with great food, not necessarily "hip" places. Thanks!

For the most part you will NOT find "Authentic" Italian food in the North End. You will find various versions of Italian-American food. If your mother wants food exactly like that found in Italy, you will be sorely disappointed.

Thanks, all. I am not married to the North End per se, so thanks for the other recs outside of the North End for authentic Italian food. As PP have stated, the food in Italy varies greatly by region, and we are familiar with a lot of the varieties, so just looking for good true Italian food. Thanks!

my wife is from Italy and she and her sister really liked Da Vinci in Boston (I have not been there myself):

It's been years since we've been there (there used to be multiple locations) but we used to go to il Panino occasionally:

Bistro 5 in West Medford is really great. It's also not someplace you are likely to go although it is right by the West Medford stop on the Commuter Rail from North Station:

We recently went to Gran Gusto on Sherman Street in Cambridge - it's "authentic" but you really need a car to get there:
