catamaran bay front room?

Has anyone stayed in a bayfront room at the Catamaran. We are booked for Easter week and picked this hotel because of the location on Mission Bay and the park like grounds and pool area. We like a full service hotel. The reviews are mixed on these rooms, some stating they have been undated. Our rate is $249/night which is in our price range.

Any opinions?

Personally, I think the Catamaran is NOT worth $249/per night. It is a 3 1/2 star hotel that often charges 4 1/2 star room rates.

All of the hotels I mentioned below are better hotels in terms of quality and are the same price as Catamaran or less.

I think for $249/per night the Marriott Coronado Isalnd Resort is a much better hotel. This hotel used to be a Le Meridian and was fully renovated 6 months ago. It is in a quiet area with a large park next to the hotel. This hotel is also right on the San Diego Bay(different from Mission Bay). Coronado is a nice area with a village atmosphere that has shops, cafes, restaurants and a beach.

The Loews Coronado hotel usually goes for $219/per night and is a nice newley renovated resort near a beach.

Hilton La Jolla/Torrey Pines is on a cliff near a beach and often has rates around $169/per night.

Hyatt Mission Bay(nice similar grass parks/water atmosphere as the Catamaran) usually goes for around $219.

The Dana Inn has a new section with large rooms and is near a grassy area in Mission Bay. Rates are around $229/per night. Note: The rooms in the older section are not good at the Dana.

Good Luck.
