Two Full Days in SD Before Conference Starts...

We will be staying at the Hotel Indigo in the GasLamp Quarter and have 2 full days (Sat/Sun) before the start of a conference and then the evenings Mon/Tues and from Noon on Wednesday before flying home on Thursday.

I need to make decisions on how to best spend my time on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.

Our thought is to do the Zoo and Sea World after the conference on Monday and Tuesday.

The other items we are interested in...

Cabrillo National Monument

Torrey Pines State Reserve

Coronodo Island

USS Midway

And, as much of the coastal scenerym as possible.

We aren't really looking for beach activities other than some coastal photography. So knowing which beach would be best for pictures would be great.

My plan is to rent a car upon our arrival on Friday night for the full two days so that we can take in as much as we can and then again on Wednesday. With parking $32/night, I just don't see keeping the car the entire time.

Any suggested order or tips on lengths of time needed at the different places above or a driving tour?

It sounds like you have a good schedule planned and are knowledgable on choices for activities here in San Diego.

3-4 hours at Zoo, 3-4 hours at Sea World should be good.

Torrey Pines Reserve isright in-between Del Mar and La Jolla which both have great photo ops for coastal scenery and they also have cafes, gallerys, and restaurants.

Del Mar, Torrey Pines, and La Jolla have some of the best coastal scenery in the entire San Diego area. Solona Beach which is just north of Del Mar also has some nice coastal scenery.

Coronado looks sort of like the Hamptons in New York and is a pleasant area.

There is a rooftop lounge at Hotel Indigo and would also be good for photo ops of the San Diego Harbor.

Have a good trip.

Be sure to visit La Jolla Cove for great coastline scenery. There's a terrific paved walking path along the rocky bluffs with small, sandy beaches along the way. Not to mention the infamous/controversial seals that have taken up residence at the nearby Children's Pool.

The other places you listed are also great -- especially Torrey Pines.
