hotels with a late check out option?

We are going to stay for a few days in San Diego for a romantic get away this fall - and we were looking for a hotel with a late check out option (our return flight doesn't leave until late in the day). Currently we are looking at Hotel Solamar, Pacific Terrace, or Homewood Suites Liberty Station (just starting the search for hotels - and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions - to help streamline our search. We are hoping to spend around 200 / night - and would rather be in the gas lamp district or by the beach but close to a trolly stop, public transportation, etc. . . but we are considering renting a car for part or all of the trip. Any suggestions are welcome.

Most hotels will allow you to leave your luggage with them after you check out so you can continue to tour the city.

Many have an option where you can pay a little something extra to check out late but that policy differs for each hotel. Have you checked with the ones you are considering??

BTW to me Homewood Suites is for families not romance.

My thoughts exactly on Homewood Suites. Not a romantic hotel. And if you stayed there you'd definitely be better off with a car.

I like the Hotel Solamar and depending on what you want to do here you could get away with not having a car. They have a great pool deck and a couple of good restaurants. You could walk to many cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs. It's in the Gaslamp District which is a part of our Downtown and walking distance to the Bay / Marina. You'd be near public transportation like our trolley which will get you around. Here are some things that will be within walking distance:

Late check out all depends on how many check ins they have. Do not choose a hotel by if you think they will have space for you to stay late.

Of those you mention, Solamar and Pacific Terrace will be the nicest.

Hotel Indigo is another choice in the Gaslamp and is a new hotel.

Hilton Gaslamp, Marriott Gaslamp(no pool at this hotel), Hilton Bayfront, and the U.S, Grant are some other nice hotels in or right by the Gaslamp.

I agree that the Homewood Suites are not in the least romantic, and this is from someone who likes staying there very much.

Also you're talking about a $40 round journey from here to the Gaslamp District for meals and drinks,
