Winery with a view of the ocean?

Are there any wineries where you can have your wine with a beautiful ocean view?

No! All the wineries are inland and frankly most are located in what is considered the 'desert' . 100 degrees and higher in summer.

That would be the San Diego area wineries - not wineries in general. There's a winery tasting room in Malibu that has a partial ocean view - and plenty of vineyards in the Santa Monica mountains and beautiful Santa Ynez area - not a desert.

There are tasting rooms in SD itself, and several advertise themselves as "wineries" because they are winery owned tasting rooms - but the vineyards are not right downtown or near the harbor, just the tasting rooms.

So if by "winery" you meant vineyard + tasting room - even that is hard to fine within an hour or two of SD, since many vineyards put their tasting rooms near freeways.

Wine grapes need a balance of hot/cool conditions for optimal growth, so many vineyards are located several miles inland from the shore where those conditions exist.

I know of one winery close to where I live that has an ocean view from afar, but the view is hit or miss depending on whether there is fog present along the coast.

The closest concentration of wineries and vineyards is in the Temecula Valley about an hour from San Diego. However, the views are more Tuscan than oceanic! Think rolling hills, vineyards, the occasional stand of cypresses. . .

There is a winery within the city of San Diego, though it's in the northern part of the city, you can visit it and they have live jazz some of the time. No view of the ocean though. There is a "wine festival" there on August 6. http://bernardowinery.com/directions/

The "wine country" nearest San Diego is partly in the northern outskirts of the county, scattered around Escindido, Ramona and Julian in San Diego County, but mostly in the Temecula area of southern Riverside County, about a 1-hour drive north of downtown San Diego. There are organized group tours you can take as a day trip from San Diego to the Temecula wine country. None of these have an ocean view. The Witch Creek Winery does have a tasting room in Carlsbad, California, which is one block from the ocean, but still no ocean view in it. The mountain town of Julian, in the mountains a 90-minute drive from San Diego, is more known as an apple-growing area but does have a couple of wineries. The town has been preserved to look mostly like it looked 100 years ago when it was a gold-mining town. http://julianca.com/

Boy, you Canadian tourists want it ALL, don't you? (Just kidding!) As noted, it's an "either/or" thing here in San Diego County.

And unfortunately, you're not even allowed to have a glass of wine on most (maybe all?) beaches because of "no alcohol" laws. We do, however, have many fine restaurants and bars right at the ocean from which to enjoy the views.
