Husband loves El Indio, but I need a new mexican place help

On our first trip to san diego my husband found this place and we go back every time several times during our trips. I do like the food but I would like some other options for Mexican food. looking for same price range with good mexican food. Any recommedations would be helpful thanks.

A stones throw from El Indio is Lucha Libre on Washington. You can see one from the other. I haven't made it in yet but it's very popular and there's always people there. I know it's been talked about here on TA.

Not really Mexican food, but go for the fish tacos to Blue Water Seafood, just 1/2 block south from El Indio (another stone's throw).

I'm not a great fan of El Indio but I do there once a week to pick up a pint of their awesome roasted chile salsa and their fresh corn tortillas.

There are many Mexican restaurants in town, and I'm sure others will pipe up with their favorites. My current favorite is Las Cuatro Milpas in Barrio Logan (south of the Coronado bridge), but that may be a bit out of your way.

I like Las Cuatro Milpas, but also in Barrio Logan and maybe better are La Fachada (20 25th St (at Imperial Ave) San Diego, CA 92102), Tacos El Paisa (2494 Imperial Ave SD 92102) and maybe La Dona's New Mexico Cafe (1784 Newton Ave, San Diego, CA 92113 .

Super Cocina, (3627 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104) might be the best Mexican restaurant in San Diego.

Thanks, scottca, you are so right about Super Cocina--love their chile colorado! Got to try La Fachada and El Paisa one of these days.

Your post made me laugh out loud. I think my husband DREAMS about the carne asada burrito at El Indio... I would love to try Lucha Libre- heard it's good.

Lucha Libre is good for what it is, which is what I would call Southern California food, not Mexican food. The burritos are large and I like it, but not worth a 30 minute wait. If I see a line out the door, I go someplace else.

Do not click the link above.

Completely worthless, probably someone trying to promote a new website.
