Rent a car or use transit system?

We will be staying 5 days in old town at a motel with a free shuttle to local area attractions like sea world and the zoo. We plan on doing both of those but were thinking about La Jolla cove and beaches the other days.

Would we be better off getting a car or would the three day regional pass get us everywhere we need to go. And does the 3 day regional pass give you access to the bus and trolley routes?

Thanks,

I suppose you mean a bus pass ?

Personally I would rent a car for at least 1 day to go and enjoy La Jolla and perhaps drive via the coast instead of taking the freeway. Make the most of it and do it at your own pace. Not on a very limited bus schedule.

I did a google maps search and click on the BUS icon. The bus route and time it takes to get from Old Town Transit Center to La Jolla changes and varies depending on the time you put for your departure and day of the week.

The MTA has a 3 day bus pass for unlimited use on the busses and trolleys for $12. Route 30 goes from Old Town to La Jolla every 30 minutes and according to the schedule and takes 48 minutes
