Saturday brunch anywhere?

We're coming into San Diego for just a day to celebrate a special birthday with his son and girlfriend. We're looking for a place that has a good Saturday brunch, preferably a buffet but not necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks!

There are a few places that have Sat brunch (not buffet) like Cafe 21 in the Gaslamp but I wouldn't call them 'special' so much.

Perhaps look at the menu at places with views. Options like Top of the Market, Bertrand at Mister A's, Island Prime, Bali Hai.

My favorite place is an AMAZING spread of a buffet and has unlimited mimosas. The only issue is that it is in Carlsbad. Belle Fleur. It is priced great too, but you will need reservations.

I believe Belle Fleur has brunch buffet on Sunday only.

Saturday brunch buffets are not common.

I am trying to think of a local hotel dining room that does a buffet every day for breakfast, but I am coming up blank right now. The Marriott Marquis does, but it is a breakfast buffet, not "brunch" meaning it ends early and doesn't really have lunch items.

Not a buffet and I wouldn't think of it as special but I see that Currant in the Sofia Hotel downtown does have brunch on Saturday

scottca is right! It is only Sunday at Belle Fleur. I misread the post. I do not know of a Saturday Brunch Buffet other than like...Hometown Buffet. Haha.

Saturday brunch in Little Italy (no particular views), Queentstown Public House (special brunch menu); Monello (special brunch menu) and Davani (brunch menu and regular menu with a build-your-own Bloody Mary Bar).

The Glass Door at the Puerto Visto Hotel in Little Italy has brunch on Saturday (not buffet), and spectacular views. However, I've had abysmal service there every time I've gone, so I've given up on them.

Thanks, everyone! Great suggestions! I've now been told by our birthday boy that he prefers it NOT be a buffet anyway. One place I read about is Hash House a Go Go. Anyone have any thoughts on this place?

Thanks again!

Hash House - IMO - NOT worth the long wait. And I wouldn't call it 'special'. But that's my opinion.

There's also Snooze further up the street. It's also a long wait and not worth it IMO.

But, again, you asked for special and I don't feel that any of these places are particularly special. Then again, I don't know what your idea of special is. Even the ones in Little Italy. Some have good food. I've eaten at Queenstown on a Sat lunch time. Good, yes. I like it and have eaten there more than once and will be back. But I don't consider it or Davanti or Monello special. Recommended for good food, yes.

I actually love both Hash House A-go-go and Snooze, but no freakin' way am I going to wait more than 10 minutes for a breakfast place, certainly not the 45 minute waits that can be common at both for breakfast & lunch on the weekends. When I want to eat at those places I go before 8AM.

I've heard that Hash House a Go Go takes reservations, though. If that's the case, why does anyone really have to wait?
