Parking Near Hard Rock Cafe - Motorhome 20ft ish

Hi, We are visiting SD Just after New Years Day

we have hired a motorhoe for a short trip down the coast of California and we are visiting Sand Diego Zoo whilst passing through/near

we want to eat at HARD ROCK CAFE as we like to visit each one that we have not been to and SD is one of them

where can i park paid/free etc ect near to (5 mins walk max really) that i can fit a 20ft ish motorhome in safely and not getting in normal cars way

i know there is a car park over road from HRC but its a internal car park and im pretty sure the motorhome will not fit under the roof lol

any advice is great

thank you

I would park in the parking lot in Old Town and ride the trolley into Downtown. Trying to maneuver an RV in Downtown, even in the open air lots could be a challenge.

I'd park in the outdoor free lot at the zoo and take a short bus ride into downtown.

As you see ,there's more than 1 possibility. In general large RVs and cities don't mix at all.

Here's a map that shows the route of the #7 bus that will take you from right outside the zoo to close to the Hard Rock:

As far as I can remember there isn't an open parking lot a 5 min walk. There is an open parking lot on the corner of 6th and Ash. Approx 10 min walk. You might have to pay for 2 parking spaces. The Hard Rock is downhill from there. A taxi would cost approx $3 or $4

And a smaller one further down 6th a little closer to the HR

Otherwise the other suggestions are good,

I think there are still some open air lots on Island & Market down around 7th, but they are expensive vs the free lot at Old Town and if they were full-ish could be a huge pain to maneuver an RV through.

I also don't remember what the open lots near Petco at the 12th & Imperial Trolley Terminal do when it isan't baseball season, but they would be pay lots as well, plus the cost of the trolley.

The lot Elizzie suggests on Ash is also where is suggest. Easy to get to and in and out, maybe a 7 minute walk.

For those of you not familiar with motorhomes, a *20 footer* is about the same length as a full size pickup. It is *shorter* than a crew cab pickup with a full length bed!

So it is not a large RV.

A motorhome is a bit wider than a standard pickup and of course taller, but one that short should not be hard at all to maneuver in many places.

Although scottca075's suggestion of the Old Town lot is good, on weekdays it is very difficult to find a space in that lot for my small car, let alone a 20 footer motorhome.

Crew cab pickups have trouble in some lots as well - depends on the lot. Sounds like the SD locals have plenty of good suggestions though. The grocery store nearest me has no spots that will accommodate a longer pick-up (so people park out on the street - or, on the sidewalk, because...no enforcement and the curb is very low...)
