In April, we are planning on flying into San Diego, spending four days and then taking the train to Anaheim for two days of Disney and flying out of LAX. Would really like to do everything without a car. Would like to spend one day at the zoo/Balboa Park, have a meal/tour of Old Town, maybe shop in Seaside Village and walk the beach on Coronado Island. Would staying within walking distance to the Santa Fe station be a must for quick transport around the city? Would Coronado be the best beach or should we go for a different one? My son is a fairly cosmopolitan traveler (for a nine year old) so we do not have to stay in a "family" hotel. Any and all suggestions are welcome....other than telling me to get a car. Am willing to spend up to $250/night for accommodations that are most convenient to getting around the city.
