Which Starwood hotel in San Diego?

Hi,

I have points with Starwood properties to book a one night stay in San Diego in April. We are arriving around 4 pm and will fly out at 1230pm the following day. Not a lot of time but we will explore a little the morning before we go. Would you recommend staying in LaJolla at the Sheraton, the Sheraton by the Harbour or Westin or W Downtown. We are a family of 4 with 2 small kids (2 and 5).

I have read all the reviews on the website and nothing is standing out to me as they are pretty mixed reviews.

How are you arriving in San Diego:car, train, plane?????

I wonder why you are coming here for not even 1 day??

I ask because without a car the only place I'd suggest you stay is one of the downtown properties if you want to see anything at all in your quick visit.

Yes, it's important to know if you'll have a car! I wouldn't stay in La Jolla even if you had a car for just an overnight.

If no car, definitely stay Downtown. If you have a car you could stay at the Sherton on Harbor Island since it's only an overnight. Knowing there isn't anything within walking distance but you can easily drive to get around.

The Westin at Horton Plaza would be my first pick, then maybe the W.

If you stay at the Westin you have a lot of choices for dinner in walking distance. Also that evening you can walk to the Bay straight down Broadway. The kids can look at the tall ships

Get a view of the USS Midway

Have a look at Seaport Village which is right on the water. The Carousel will likely be closed by the time you get there.

You can walk or take a taxi back for less than $5. Although, in thinking about it you might want to drive with your carseats because a taxi won't have any. It's less than a 5 mins drive.

You can park at Seaport Village

$3 for the first 2 hours or part thereof; $2 every 30 minutes thereafter or part thereof. Validation with a minimum $10 purchase from any Seaport Village establishment.

Non-validated self parking: $8 per hour or part thereof.
