The Dana...

Does anyone have more insight on the hotel, The Dana on Mission Bay? The pictures look great, but are they too good to be true?

The Dana is a nice place in a good location, but the pictures don't tell the whole story.

The hotel just opened a new addition a few months ago and it is very nice. This is what you see on the web site. However the hotel has an older section, which is not shown on the website. The rooms in the older part have recently been remodeled, and are fine, they just aren't as nice as the new section. the buildings are more than 30 years old. You might want to check to see which section your room is in before you arrive, so you aren't surprised.

Nevertheless the location is excellent and the surrounding area of Mission Bay Park is pretty.

You asked in your other post about beach access. It is a 3 min drive, a 5 min bike ride or a 12 min walk to the beach from this hotel. They have bike rentals at the hotel.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for the responses. I think a 12 minute walk is worth the time to get to the beach.

Any other suggestions on great spots to see around The Dana Hotel?

We stayed at the Dana last Fall. The hotel was wonderful! We did stay at the newer part of the hotel, it cost more, but definitely worth it! The staff were all very friendly and accomodating! Free parking which is nice. Our room was a bayview room, with a balcony. We were able to see fireworks from our balcony one night, it was perfect looking out on the bay. They have a free shuttle to Sea World,. The hotel is close by to Old Town and Pacific Beach. We would stay there again.
